Throughout the pandemic, Cannock Chase Council has been working closely with its partners including public health specialists at Staffordshire County Council and Public Health England, to monitor and respond to the Coronavirus situation in our District.
Most Government restrictions were lifted in July 2021, but residents and businesses are reminded that the virus continues to be present, with the Delta variant being particularly infectious. The Government has unveiled its Autumn and Winter Plan to guide all of us on how we can contiune to learn to live with the virus over the coming months. It features a Plan A, a comprehensive approach designed to steer the country through autumn and winter 2021/22. It also outlines a Plan B which would only be enacted if the data suggests further measures are necessary to protect the NHS.

The Council has been dealing with an understandably large number of calls and enquiries coming in online from residents and businesses since March 2020, especially those concerned about their finances. Staff - mostly working from home - are doing all they can to help with queries about benefits and Government support for businesses, and the many other enquiries being made especially concerning the most vulnerable in our community. We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.
We are posting news releases on this website as they are issued (Follow this link for the Latest News). You can also follow our latest news on Twitter @cannockchasedc and Facebook (Search `Cannock Chase Life`). There you will find regular updates.
Council Meetings are once again being held 'in person'. Members of the public are entitled to attend meetings as registered speakers or to view proceedings. However, owing to social distancing requirements, numbers are limited and only those who have booked in advance will be able to attend. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to do so. Any members of the public who register to attend a Council meeting are encouraged to take a lateral flow test prior to attending. Furthermore, attendees are required to wear a face covering whilst in the Civic Centre unless exempt from doing so.
With the Council having a particular responsibility to support vulnerable people, there may be a range of other requests for help around Coronavirus (not NHS related) including how to access other council services not managed by Cannock Chase Council. Staff will help to signpost to the right organisations that can offer assistance in these cases.
